First blood to Nantes

Nantes V Toulouse - Playoff for Ligue 1 place - 2nd leg

Kick off 1700 Sunday 30 May

Live on BT Sport 3

Nantes should feel confident of keeping their place in Ligue 1 going in to this game. Thursday's first leg in Toulouse finished 1 - 2 to Les Canaris. Nantes' top scorers Ludovic Blas and Kolo Muani scored a valuable away goal each at the Stadium de Toulouse. With a goal lead, the away goal advantage, playing at home and their superior squad you would expect Antoine Kombouaré's side to keep their Ligue 1 status. Toulouse will have to score at least two, not impossible, but Nantes have good attacking players and will be hard to keep out. Attacking midfielder Blas in particular is looking electric. He took his goal in the first leg really well and could be on his way in the summer whether Nantes stay up or not. Les Toulousains have plenty of goals in their team having scored 71 in the League this season. Against Nantes though Patrice Garande's team only created two shots on goal despite having more possession. More concerning for Les Violets is that Nantes scored two from just four shots on goal. In need of goals will Garande start this match with Rhys Healey up front? The young Englishman is top scorer for his side this season but was only brought on in the 67th minute of the first leg only to replace second top scorer Vakoun Issouf Bayo. If they are going to pull this tie around surely Garande will need to play both. A little under a year ago Toulouse were taken over by US Investment Firm RedBird Capital. They and President Damien Comolli would have hoped for their new club to bounce straight back to Ligue 1 after being relegated last season. If Nantes score first this could become a mountain to climb rather than an uphill struggle. If Toulouse are the first to strike though it will make things interesting.

Frenchfooty prediction: Nantes 2 V Toulouse 2.

Are the owners of Toulouse the same company who have recently acquired a stake in Liverpool?

Replying to

Yes they are. They are co-owned by LeBron James and have a stake in Malaga too.
