Euro 2020 - Day 7

Another interesting day yesterday with teams taking big steps to qualification from the group stages. Wales performed brilliantly to beat Turkey 2 - 0 and will give themselves a huge chance of qualifying for the knockout stages. Wales seem to have got the balance right between the quality of their big players like Ramsey and Bale and the heart and industry of players like Moore and Roberts. In the same group Italy have put in another class performance steamrollering Switzerland 3 - 0. The Italians under Mancini are looking like tournament contenders now and it will be interesting to see how they perform against better opposition in the knockout stages. In Group B Russia threw the qualification open by beating Finland 1 - 0. The pressure is on Denmark now to get a result against Belgium today otherwise they could be out.

Ukraine V North Macedonia - Group C - Kick off at 1400 from National Arena in Bucharest. Live on ITV and ITV Hub.

Ukraine showed how good they can be on the front foot in their opening 3-2 loss to Holland. Looking at Ukraines squad you would expect them to finish second to the Dutch in Group C.

This is a team that were unbeaten in qualifying, finishing above Portugal in their group. Losing to the Netherlands has put Ukraine under pressure though and they really need to win this.

The Macedonians have a class act in Goran Pandev but the former Champions League winner can’t do it all on his own. At 37 he could still be a threat to Ukraine but is past his best. The Macedonians were well beaten by Austria in their opener so it’s hard to see them getting anything here. Both teams need to win but Ukraine have much more quality and I would expect them to win here. West Ham's Andriy Yarmolenko scored a screamer against Holland and could be influential here.

Frenchfooty prediction: Ukraine 3 V North Macedonia 0

Denmark V Belgium - Group B - Kick off at 1700 from the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen. Live on ITV and ITV Hub.

Denmark must still be in a state of shock after what happened in their opening game. After seeing their team mate collapse and have to be resuscitated, the Danes clearly weren’t keen to continue the game. After losing to Finland they now face one of the best teams in the world. The Danes also have to face the Belgians without their best player who is still recovering in hospital. Belgium comfortably beat Russia in their first game without starting two of their best players in Hazard and De Bruyne. Striker Romelu Lukaku started the tournament brilliantly with two goals and will be hard to contain. It’s difficult to see how the Danes can get anything here. The game will be played in Denmark which will be emotional given what happened here at the weekend. The Danes will receive strong support and there will be tributes for Eriksen but I'm not sure it will be enough. Luck has gone against the Danes and it looks like it just won't be their tournament.

Frenchfooty prediction: Denmark 0 v Belgium 2

Netherlands V Austria - Group C - Kick off at 2000 from Johan Cruijff Arena, Amsterdam. Live on BBC One and BBC Iplayer.

The Netherlands look good going forward but a bit weak at the back, Despite that, they did well to beat a decent Ukraine side in their opening game after surrendering a two goal lead. Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt could be available after missing the first game through injury. It will be interesting to see how Memphis Depay performs with Lyon's out of contract forward said to be on the verge of signing with Barcelona. Austria had a huge win in their first game beating the Macedonians 3 - 1. A draw here would probably be enough to put them through but they will be without striker Marko Arnautovic. He has been banned by UEFA for "insulting an opponent" in his celebration after scoring against Macedonia. His rant against Macedonian defender Ezgjan Alioski seems a bizarre and needless way for him to miss a match. Now Austria are without one of their more effective players. The Dutch have home advantage too so should win here.

Frenchfooty prediction: Netherlands 2 V Austria 0
